Onset Bay Inn

I got a job for a Galena hotel and then went to work for a Galena bed & breakfast about four years later, as a manager. The owner of a Galena bed & breakfast had somehow heard that I was really great with the customers and that I was actually going to college to be a hotel/motel manager. She offered me the position and I could not pass it up. In fact, I ended up getting my degree and then still working there for two more years.

I had to leave when I got married, because my husband’s job moved us out to the east coast and I had found out from the Galena hotel that I had worked for before, could get me a job with an affiliated hotel in the east. It was nice to know that all of the hard work that I had put in before graduation was going to pay off. Finding a job is not always that easy and in today’s economy, it is even worse than what it usually is.

Moving out to the east was difficult since neither of us knew anyone there. We both missed our friends and family back home in Galena but after a few months at our new jobs, we had made some new friends through work and through church and settled in very nicely.
