Funny T Shirts Saved my Hotel Business
Funny t shirts were never on my list on ways on how to save my dying micro-hotel up north. We’ve been in business for almost five years now and other better micro-hotels sprung like mushrooms everywhere. Competition was high. It was a rat race for survival. My wife and I could not sleep well at night and it bothered us that we started this business from scratch and we were the first to have this concept in this area but now, we are lagging behind. It pained me to see my wife crying because she has always thought of me as a fighter and seeing me losing the race was an emotional heartbreak for her.
One day while I was doing the cashiering because the custodian was not around. There was this young man wearing a shirt with something funny written on it. The man was our guest in the hotel. He was happy with the attention given on his shirt. And then it dawned on me. My employees have been wearing the same uniform for the last five years. White polo shirt and black pants for men and white polo shirt and black skirts for women was our standard uniform. Why not let them wear a shirt with something funny written on it? It would be a unique selling point for our micro-hotel. Later that day, I had a meeting with my wife and my employees and instantly, they fell in love with my idea.
That following weekend, after carefully searching online for humorous shirt suppliers, we found this one and it was excellent. They could deliver the goods in 24 hours. Once the shirts arrived, my employees wore it. That day, we had about 20 guests. But the following weeks after that, it was history. These days, inside our micro-hotel, we have a specialty store named “funny shirts.”
